Ellen Kathleen (Haertel) Wisdom

Ellen Kathleen Wisdom, age 84, of Greensboro GA, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 15, 2026. She grew up in New Albany IN, where she met the love of her life, Gerald “Jerry” Wisdom; they were married on August 15th, 1964 at Central Christian Church and enjoyed 45 blessed years of marriage. In 1959 Ellen graduated from New Albany High School, continuing her education by graduating from St. Anthony’s Hospital School of Nursing, Louisville, KY in 1962. Ellen enjoyed leading and attending Bible study, sewing, cooking and baking, and spending time with her family and friends. She worked in various doctors’ offices between Fort Wayne, IN and Cincinnati, OH. In Greensboro, GA she was a member and served at Grace Fellowship Church, was part of Community Bible Study, volunteered at Good Samaritan Hospital, helped to start and served at First Call Pregnancy Center, supported and volunteered at ATLAS, loved going to Wears Valley Ranch to help with many projects, sewed gowns for Threads of Love Ministry, and made many items to sell to raise funds for Circle Ranch.

She had a deep passion for her family and her many friends. Ellen is survived by her family; Kim and Gerry Horton of Chapin, SC and their 3 children Andrew and Aubrey Horton of Lancaster, PA, Ethan and Grace Horton of Eagle Rock, VA, and Emily Horton of Medina, TN. Kevin and Jillyne Wisdom of Holland, MI and their 3 children Tyler, Spencer and Malynn Wisdom of Holland, MI. As well as her sister, Debbie Wright, and her family of New Albany, IN.

Funeral Services will be held at Grace Fellowship on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. James Long officiating. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in New Albany, Indiana.  McCommons Funeral Home, 109 W.
