Dean Gibby Obituary

Cecil Dean Gibby, age 86, a resident of Commerce, Georgia, and formerly of Duluth, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 20, 2026. Born in Cartersville, Georgia, on June 8, 1939, Dean was the son of the late Arthur Charlie Gibby and Maebell Graves Gibby. He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School. Dean had a dedicated career as a millwright for General Motors for thirty years, retiring in 1991. On June 28, 1980, he was united in marriage to the former Peggy McKinley. Dean was a loving family man and also enjoyed maintaining his physical fitness, hunting deer, fishing, and caring for his beloved pets, Bootsie and Missy.

Dean accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior over fifty years ago. He preached the word of God to all who would listen. He lead many to Christ over the years. He was a dedicated disciple of Christ and proclaimed his faith fully to all.

Dean is survived by his devoted wife, Peggy Gibby, of Commerce; his children, April Stephens (Wayne), Tammy Greear (Tim), Rhonda Doolittle (Bob), Cheryl Schumacher (Marc), William Robert Mize (Beverly), and Matthew Grall; and his siblings, sisters, Christine Sapp and Katherine Tucker (Charles), and brothers, Clinton Gibby (Mae) and Bobby Gibby (Betty). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Terry Gibby and Michael Gibby.
